The aim of this course, is to give an overview of the "non testing" alternative methods to animal testing, for the prediction of molecular properties by means of QSAR (Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship) methods, or extrapolating the informations based on data relative to similar compounds (read-across methods).

Note: The course will be held in Italian language.

The course will provide an introduction to the use of alternative methods, in particular QSAR, for assessing chemical properties and toxicity data for REACH compounds. CAESAR models and other comparative applications will be tested and results will be critically discussed. The course is not aimed to teach all QSAR features but recommended practices to deal with in silico methods in a critical way.

ORCHESTRA has the main objective of disseminating and exploiting the activities of ongoing EU research concerning in silico (QSAR, read-across, etc.) models for the (eco)toxicology. This area is multidisciplinary, because it deals with environmental science, health, chemistry and information technology.

Many initiatives are planned, stay tuned:

  • Documents with guidelines on the use of in silico models
  • Documents on barriers for the use of in silico models
  • E-book on the use of in silico models
  • A series of open-source publications

Documents and Further Information will be added soon
